The Development and Regeneration Team works to improve housing, local environments, and community facilities.
We deliver a range of high-quality schemes to improve quality of life for the residents of Cardiff.
We are made up of over 50 members who have a range of expertise, built up over years of working with local communities to provide quality homes and improve neighbourhoods.
- Housing Developments – Designing and implementing a large scale and award-winning new build programme.
- Delivering 4,000 new homes with an overall development value of £1 billion.
- The largest Council led development programme in Wales.
- Large scale housing and regeneration schemes which bring new services, facilities and community buildings which are low carbon and energy efficient.
- Facilitating homes for sale and new homes for first time buyers available through our First Homes Cardiff scheme.
- District and local shopping centre regeneration commercial improvements, public realm, green infrastructure and transport improvements.
- Estate Regeneration – upgrading the environment around houses and flats including pavements, open spaces, boundary walls and addressing community safety concerns.
- Neighbourhood Regeneration Schemes – a local member led scheme for small scale regeneration initiatives in local communities.
- Securing and administering Section 106 funding for existing and new community facilities.
- Designing and delivering capital projects and master plans – new Community Hubs and buildings for other teams within the Council and for partners.
- Partnership Projects – working with Cardiff and the Vale Health Board and the Police to bring forward joint capital projects such as Health and Wellbeing Hubs.
- Empty Property Loans (Houses into Homes) – interest free loans to help bring empty properties back into use as residential accommodation.
