Tenants Together is a service provided by Cardiff Council to encourage contract-holders (tenants) to get involved within their community.

We work year-round, engaging with contract-holders and leaseholders on a variety of topics.

We have resources for contract-holders to start their own groups. We offer advice to help them along the way until they are an official community group, with the confidence to make a difference in their local community.

Support from Tenants Together

  • If you have any problems with the services offered by Cardiff Council Housing, we can chat to see if we can help, or if there are any options you have not considered.
  • We are the first point of response on many related issues and are trained to be able to give contract-holders and leaseholders advice on a number of council services and signposting to relevant organisations if needed.
  • We work directly with Into Work services to provide opportunities for council contract-holders and leaseholders to get back into work. This includes our Passport to Work programme where contract-holders and leaseholders can have a course paid for (up to the value of £1000) to find them a career they enjoy.
  • We offer special project grants of up to £1000 for contract-holders to form their own groups to host events in the future. We have supported groups for Eid celebrations, Coronation celebrations, community garden funding and much more.

Community events

  • We run seasonal events for contract-holders and leaseholders. These include our annual tenants conference, our big lunch for the elderly and a Christmas party at the end of the year. We also run regular coffee mornings which give contract-holders and leaseholders a safe space to chat, make friends and bring up any problems they have had with their community or Cardiff Council Housing.
  • We can help introduce you to neighbours or find a hobby you like with other contract-holders and leaseholders. These include community gardening, walking a dog with Cardiff Dogs Home, or just general wellbeing activities. We are open to other activity suggestions and can also help you form an official recognised group if you would like to start your own!
  • Once a year, we host our Blooming Marvellous competition. This is a gardening competition aimed at council contract-holders and leaseholders to encourage pride in Cardiff’s green spaces. There are six categories ranging from ‘Front Garden’ to ‘Most Improved’ with cash prizes for winners. These are announced at our yearly tenant’s conference.

Surveys and consultations

We can help your voice be heard. Tenants Together runs consultations across the city on housing and other council issues to make sure your opinion helps develop and improve Cardiff.

We issue surveys throughout the year as well as our annual tenant satisfaction survey. The surveys give Cardiff Council feedback to improve their services based on responses of contract-holders and leaseholders.

If you fill out surveys, start a community group or organise a community litter pick, we can offer points4u which are reward points that can be traded for shopping vouchers!

We are always looking for people to join our groups, so if you would like more information on the support we offer or future events, please contact us.
